Shibashi

Shibashi (18 Taichi qigong movements) is a moving qigong (energy/breath exercise) based on the movements of Taiji Quan (Taichi Chuan).  It was created by Professor Lin Housheng as a faster and more effective way for students to learn and start to gain the benefits of Taiji and qigong.  Shibashi follows the same principles as Taiji.  It is practised in a slow relaxed manner with the movements co-ordinated with relaxed abdominal breathing. As with Taiji the posture must be aligned to ensure a solid root and to allow all the movements to come from your centre.

Shibashi may be learnt and practised as a standalone exercise. However, in Chowa Ryu it forms a perfect complement to push-hands. The posture, strong root, relaxed deep breathing and softness of movement that Shibashi teaches are all essential in push-hands.
