Shibashi (18 Taichi
qigong movements) is a moving qigong (energy/breath exercise)
based on the movements of Taiji Quan (Taichi Chuan). It
was created by Professor Lin Housheng as a faster and
more effective way for students to learn and start
to gain the benefits of Taiji and qigong.
Shibashi follows the same principles as Taiji. It is
practised in a slow relaxed manner with the movements
co-ordinated with relaxed abdominal breathing. As with
Taiji the posture must be aligned to ensure a solid root and
to allow all the movements to come from your
centre.
Shibashi may be
learnt and practised as a standalone exercise. However, it is
also the perfect Qigong to learn alongside Taiji. The
posture, strong root, relaxed deep breathing and softness of
movement that Shibashi teaches are all essential in Taiji form
practise.
The Axbridge class is
led by Bob Chadderton (OCN qualified Shibashi instructor).
Shibashi can usually be learnt in 6 to 10 hours.
